Autumn Equinox Yoga, Sound Bath & Tea Ceremony
Autumn is the season to harvest, nest, release and prepare for Winter. We can harness these energies into a journey of transformation to attune and support our transition towards Winter.
This ceremony will support mental clarity, emotional grounding, and a deeper sense of connection—to your body, your inner wisdom, and the natural rhythms of autumn—leaving you feeling balanced, restored, and gently aligned with the season’s invitation to slow down, reflect, release, and root into your foundations.
Locating in the Celtic Wheel of the Year
The Autumn Equinox marks the moment of equal day and night — a threshold in the year when light and darkness stand in quiet balance. In the Celtic wheel, this turning point has been recognised as a sacred pause: a time to give thanks for the harvest, to prepare for the darker months ahead, and to honour the delicate rhythm between growth and rest.
At the equinox, we stand within the results of the season’s labour. In practical terms, this is the time to gather food, preserve what will sustain us, and save seeds for future planting. Yet the harvest is not only agricultural. It also reflects the intentions we set in the spring — the hopes, commitments, and threads we consciously chose to weave into our lives at the beginning of the growing season. Some intentions may have blossomed fully; others may have taken root more quietly, strengthening us in ways not immediately visible.
In ceremony we can collectively acknowledge and give thanks for what the Earth has provided — not only for us, but for all beings who depend upon her cycles. Gratitude here is grounded and embodied: for nourishment, for shelter, for community, and for the simple, sustaining reality of being held and supported by the living world.
Celtic folkore
The Autumn Equinox is sometimes referred to as Mabon, a harvest festival named for the Welsh figure Mabon, whose story reflects cycles of loss, retrieval, and return. It marks the turning of the wheel toward the darker half of the year a time to slow and turn awareness inwards. This is a celebration of abundance gathered, lessons integrated, and the quiet wisdom that comes with maturity. Apples heavy on the branch, grain cut and bundled, vines curling back into the earth, and leaves loosening from the trees all carry symbolic meaning — reminders that life ripens fully before it releases, and that renewal is born from letting go.
In older earth-based traditions, this season reflects the Mother aspect of the Triple Goddess — Maiden, Mother, Crone. Here, the Mother is not an abstract archetype but a lived reality. She is the fertile field, the orchard in fruit, the plump berries in hedgerows. She represents nourishment, sustained effort, and the fulfilment of what was planted with intention earlier in the year. Her abundance is steady rather than dramatic — the quiet reward of tending and patience.
Our relationship with the Mother Goddess teaches responsibility as much as generosity. What we receive, we must respect. What we harvest, we steward carefully. As the days shorten, her energy begins its gradual shift toward rest and conservation — a reminder that abundance and release belong to the same cycle.
Combining yoga with the power of sound
This special Autumn Equinox gathering — weaving together yoga, sound, and tea ceremony — invites you on a journey through both inner and outer landscapes. Guided by the steady rhythm of the breath and the inner light of your intuitive wisdom, we will explore the themes of balance, harvest, and release as we consciously step into the darker phase of the solar cycle.
The yoga practice will gently interlace Celtic folklore with embodied movement and breath, supported by the resonant tones of ancient instruments. As we move, these sounds will deepen and enrich the experience, amplifying the energetic quality of the practice and guiding through shifting states of awareness — from grounded presence to reflective stillness.
The journey will descend into the immersive vibrations of a sound bath, where the body is invited into rest and receptivity. In this space, a sense of connection can deepen, insights may naturally surface, and the nervous system is supported to recalibrate. Held within this intentional container, you are given space to listen inwardly, root into your foundations, and honour the quiet wisdom that emerges in the turning of the season.
Sound and ceremony have been used across cultures and centuries as powerful ways to mark time, create meaning, and deepen our connection to ourselves and the living world around us. Through vibration, rhythm, and intentional ritual, sound gently quiets the thinking mind and opens a spacious inner landscape where we can listen more deeply. Ceremony invites us to pause, step out of everyday patterns, and attune to our own natural life rhythms as well as the wider rhythms of nature we are part of. Together, these practices help calm anxiety, release stress, and create space for feelings of presence, consolidation, love, joy, and inner spaciousness to arise. In this shared, held space, reflection arises organically—allowing us to honour where we have been, celebrate what is emerging, and reconnect with inner wisdom that often goes unheard in the noise of daily life.
Contraindications
Sound therapy is generally safe for most people to experience. However, in a group setting where the sounds are not tailored to individual needs, it is not recommended for those in their first trimester of pregnancy, individuals with a pacemaker, or anyone using a hearing device that is highly sensitive to sound.
If you have any questions or are unsure whether this experience is suitable for you, you are warmly encouraged to reach out to us to discuss your individual circumstances.
Plant medicine and herbal tea ritual
We will also be incorporating the symbolic and medicinal qualities of plants into the Autumn Equinox ceremony through the sharing of a specially brewed seasonal tea. Thoughtfully selected to reflect the time of year, this blend is crafted to complement the intention of the gathering and deepen the experience — offering warmth, nourishment, and the subtle wisdom of the plants to gently anchor and enrich your journey.
When booking, please let us know if you have any allergies or sensitivities. If you have any concerns, you are warmly invited to reach out in advance, and we will ensure a suitable alternative is prepared for you.
Guardians of the space
Ailie (Yoga Rewild) and Sofia (Loveallwaysyoga) will gently guide and hold the space for this ceremony, creating a grounded and intentional container in which you can fully arrive — exactly as you are. There is nothing to achieve and nothing to perform; you are welcome in your wholeness, whatever this season finds you carrying.
With care and steady presence, we will support the unfolding of the experience — allowing you to soften, drop beneath the surface of the everyday, and connect more deeply with yourself and the rhythms of the season. Our role is to tend the space with warmth and attentiveness, so you feel safe to journey, reflect, and root into your own inner wisdom.
Practicalities
The ceremony is suitable for ages 15+. The yoga practice is adaptable with options provided so you can adjust depending on how gently/light or deep/strong you would like to move. Please let us know when booking if you have any specific injuries or conditions so that suitable adaptations can be offered.
